As part of CNYC’s Outbreak Initiative, we are pleased to present Sarah Schmerler’s blog to our community. Sarah is a writer-curator-educator who enjoys her “wandering-into” privileges in Red Hook, and currently blogs about them in a series called “La Passeggiata” on sarahschmerler.com while collaborating with CNYC.

Andrew Coates hails from Western Pennsylvania, studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, and is a longtime Red Hook, Brooklyn resident. He currently divides his time between the graphic and the fine arts, creating witty, stand-alone multiples (snow globes that put an ironic twist on Milton Glaser’s I [HEART] NY logo; “tree-log” coasters made of cork), as well as thoughtful-yet-whimsical drawings, altered photographs, and found-object-inspired installations. http://www.a-coates.com/home-new.html

Sarah Schmerler is a writer-curator-educator who trained as a fine artist at Pratt Institute before writing about art for such publications as TimeOut New York, The New York Post, and Art in America. A Carroll Gardens resident since 1996, her former favorite-art nabe is Williamsburg. http://www.sarahschmerler.com
